HEALTH/SAFETY

We at DRCS have a responsibility to provide a safe living environment for all our clients in and out of our care homes.

People with disabilities need health care and health programs for the same reasons anyone else does—to stay well, active, and a part of the community.

Having a disability does not mean a person is not healthy or that he or she cannot be healthy. Being healthy means the same thing for all of us—getting and staying well so we can lead full, active lives. That means having the tools and information to make healthy choices and knowing how to prevent illness.

  • DRCS has the responsibility to help you find a doctor and other health care providers
  • Help with medication reminders and administration
  • Assist in getting you to and from your medical appointments
  • Remind you of all your appointments and medical check-ups.

People with disabilities can be at higher risk for injuries and abuse. At DRCS we make it a top responsibility to keep our clients safe and  teach them how to stay safe and what to do if they feel threatened or have been hurt in any way.

EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT

At DRCS we believe that every child and youth irrespective of physical and mental condition deserves to get a formal education. We help with:

  • Finding placement in the right school
  • Monitoring and supervising you progress
  • Providing guidance and direction when you feel overwhelmed and dealing with challenges of attending school
  • Responding to concerns raised in your school and working with you to deal with them
  • Your transition from youth to adulthood as it relates to your education and working with you to plan and navigate the next stages of your education and development.
