OUT OF HOME RESPITE CARE(FAMILY)

Out of Home Respite

This is a service that provides parents and family members who have children with developmental challenges, short term relief outside their own family home. DRCS have arrangement where you are marched with one of our respite families in their own family homes for the weekend or for a specified period of time. This can also be on an ongoing basis. You are entitled to your own bedroom and bathroom. The host would be responsible for feeding, transportation, medication administration, sensory drives and walks, and recreational activities during the period.

These respite families are registered with DRCS after extensive screening which starts from interested families submitting an application, participating in an interview, undergoing background/vulnerable sector check for themselves and anybody in their household 12 years or older, immunization record check for themselves and anyone 12 years or older.
